about spendside

Why SpendSide exists.

Procurement has been the last major enterprise function untouched by real intelligence.

Our story

Existing tools optimize for transactions, not for decisions. They record what was bought, then leave the hard questions, where value is leaking and what to do next, to spreadsheets and instinct.

SpendSide is the procurement operating system from Cognistone. It reads the signals across spend, suppliers, contracts, and risk, runs procurement-specific analytics, and proposes the next action with the evidence to defend it, all the way to finance-approved, realized savings.

The product principle is simple: every KPI drills to evidence, every insight creates an opportunity, every opportunity connects to a workflow, and every workflow proves realized savings.

principles

Ten principles, applied everywhere.

01

Trustworthy data

Every metric traces back to the invoice, PO, contract, supplier, file, and transformation.

02

Procurement-specific analytics

LPP, SPA, arbitrage, leakage, should-cost, and more. Not generic BI.

03

AI that is grounded

Every answer ships with evidence, confidence, assumptions, methodology, and lineage.

04

Workflow-connected savings

Identified, validated, sourced, contracted, realized, finance-approved.

05

Role-specific experience

CPO, category, sourcing, legal, finance, supplier, admin: each feels built for them.

06

Intent-first

The command palette is the primary entry. AI is ambient, not buried in a corner.

07

Storytelling pages

Supplier 360, contract detail, and opportunity cards read top to bottom.

08

Multiplayer from day one

Presence, co-edit, mentions, and comments are substrate, not a feature.

09

Speed as a constraint

Sub-100ms transitions, optimistic filters, fast first tokens. Performance is a feature.

10

No surprises

Robust to known failures, observable for unknowns, honest about uncertainty.

Team forthcoming.
